Job Description:

Job Summary:\nThe RNFA works closely with surgeons to ensure optimal patient outcomes during surgical procedures. This role requires advanced knowledge of anatomy, surgical techniques, and patient care, making the RNFA a vital member of the surgical team.
Key Responsibilities:

Pre-operative Phase:

• Assist in preparing the operating room (OR) and surgical equipment.
• Position and prepare the patient for surgery.
• Ensure all necessary supplies and instruments are sterile and ready for use. Intra-operative Phase:
  • Provide direct assistance to the surgeon during procedures.
  • Handle tissue, organs, and sutures as directed by the surgeon.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and maintain a sterile field. Post-operative Phase:
    • Assist with wound closure and application of dressings.
    • Transfer the patient to the recovery area and provide post-operative care as needed.
    • Monitor the patient's condition and report any changes to the surgical team. Collaboration and Communication:
      • Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other members of the surgical team.
      • Document surgical procedures accurately in patient records.
      • Participate in patient education and discharge planning as required. Professional Development:
        • Stay updated on advancements in surgical techniques and patient care practices.
        • Maintain RNFA certification through ongoing education and training. Skills and Qualifications:
          
          • Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program; current RN licensure.
          • Certification: Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA) credential required.
          • Experience: Typically requires several years of nursing experience in perioperative or surgical settings.
          • Skills: Strong understanding of surgical anatomy and procedures, excellent communication and teamwork skills, ability to work under pressure, and in a fast-paced environment.
